PCG: Over 120 stranded in Eastern Visayas ports due to Crising

MANILA, Philippines — At least 122 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers were stranded in three ports across Eastern Visayas on Thursday as Tropical Depression Crising disrupted maritime operations in the region, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.
In an advisory, the PCG said that from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. on July 17, a total of 60 rolling cargoes and three vessels were also stranded at the ports of Maasin, Benit, and Padre Burgos due to the weather disturbance.
Two additional vessels were reported to be taking shelter for safety.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) tropical cyclone advisory, the center of Crising was estimated to be 535 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon.
Pagasa added that the tropical depression remains over the Philippine Sea and is forecast to move westward toward Northern Luzon.
It may intensify into a tropical storm in the next 24 to 36 hours.
